Di Bruno Bros
Italian-American specialty deli from 1939, evolved into one of the broadest specialty cheese counters in the eastern US.
Founded in 1939 by Italian immigrant brothers Danny and Joe Di Bruno in Philadelphia's Italian Market on 9th Street, Di Bruno Bros expanded from a neighborhood deli to multiple locations including a flagship in the Comcast Center. The cheese counter is genuinely broad — both Italian heritage selections and well-stocked French, Spanish, Dutch, and American sections. Strong in aged and hard cheeses; the salumi (cured meats) selection is also exceptional. The original 9th Street location retains a cluttered, deli-counter character that newer locations have not entirely preserved. Family-owned through multiple generations; the current ownership maintains the editorial position.
